The First Day "Tutorial" [MIX] (READ FIRST)

You do remember me mentioning fighting before, right?

Well monsters lurk this tower. On each visit, they will likely attack a certain amount of times. (If you go a whole material gathering trip rolling the encounter dice, your trip will be void)

Depending on the size of a zone, then you will encounter more and more monsters.

After a gathering attempt, a dice MUST be rolled to determine if you will or will not fight a monster. If it's a 1 that is rolled, then you will encounter a monster. If it's not, you're safe. Depending on the size of your floor, then the dice will be different.

In medium size 2 zones, the encounter rate is slightly lower. Enemies will have a decent level, usually 5 levels higher than the stratum level. This uses the Encounter S2 Die.

In bigger size 3 zones, the encounter rate is the same as S2, but enemies will 10 levels stronger than the stratum level. This uses the Encounter S3 Die.

Original posters may choose what monster they're going to fight against or make up their own.

(As of 7/15/2011, if the OP is NOT participating in a run on an RP, the person leading an expedition on the floor may choose the monster instead OR it can be chosen by Dios the Game Master)

That is known as an Upset, its one of the monsters that inhabit this tower. They are created from your fears, hatred, guilt, and negative emotions. This one is a lower level one known as Ghastball.

To original posters; Always tell people that a battle is starting by doing something like this:

BATTLE ENGAGED!

Then tell people what the monster is and its stats.

You can make the monster up on the spot, but make sure it's similar to monsters on the same stratum level. For example, you can't make a monster with 500 HP on a lvl 1 stratum. View The Database and click on "The Upset" tab to view a list of monsters and their attributes.
Upsets attack the NEXT person to make an attack. So if I choose to attack it and DON'T have the "Agility bonus" from the Instinctives skill, I will take damage first. If I DO have the skill, and my strength is HIGHER than the enemies HP, I can preform a FINISH, which will end the battle instantly without me taking damage.

If the previous person to gather enters a battle AND doesn't have the "Agility" bonus from the Instinctives skill, they will take damage first.

Sorry, Maritase. This is going to hurt.

You're also going to wonder how to fight it...

Before you attack, always show how much HP you have and your Strength. Your HP is equal to your stamina and doesn't recover automatically until the battle ends. Also, Show how much HP the monster after the last person attacked it. Requires basic math skills, obviously.

When you attack, post a description of how you're attacking or something like that (this is for RP purposes)
then make sure you roll the dice of your strength level; this dice is called the "Attack Modifier"
When the next person who attacks the monster posts, they have to add your strength and the number you rolled with the modifier, then subtract it from the monsters HP.

It seems a little complicated, I know, but it's really easy once you get into the hang of it.

Also, Since I'm attacking it and I've "turned off" my agility, I've taken 3 damage, just look at my HP!

I'm guessing that even though I have enough strength to finish it, but don't this "agility" thing you're talking about, I can't finish it off, right? What happens then?

Okay, listen because this is important.

Since the enemy can attack you first, the reason this makes a difference is that the enemy has a chance to drop your HP to 0.

If your HP hits 0, you will become unconscious. You will not die, however, as you are already dead. Instead, if you're the only one in the party fighting, or your entire party is Unconscious, You (and everyone else) will wake up in your "town" and you will lose 10 IMG points! Not a good thing.

Alright. Is there any other way I can fight it beside just beating it with my ha....p-paws or slapping it with a stick?

You have magic!
Allow me to explain how magic works.
If you choose to attack with magic, instead of showing your strength in your post when you attack, you will do this:

HP: (You know what this is)
Magic: (Put your magic skill level here, found on the database next to strength)
MC: This is your Magic Counter. It has a maximum amount of 10. Think of it like an overheating system. Every time you cast a spell that you learned (Check the database and click on Skill Dev. and SPELLS for a list of spells and their MC), this will increase by the amount noted in the Database. If you'd rather not check the database all the time, it's a good idea to keep a list of spells and their MC usage with you at all times. Make sure when you attack, you show what your TOTAL MC after using the spell will be.

If your MC hits 10 or passes it, you cannot use magic for 2 turns. Your MC will reset every 2 turns you DON'T use magic as well!!

Since your magic Level is 5, you know 2 spells:

Fireball, which at your level, takes 3 MC and Ice Sword, which at your level takes 5 MC

The difference between using magic to attack and your paws/weapon, is that your damage is CONSTANT with magic. Depending on who you are, this may be good or bad, its up to you.

So anyways, to using the spells. Simply concentrate and imagine the spell happening for it to work. You may describe how you use your spell the same way you say how you attack. Go ahead, try using Ice Sword.

Alright...I can do this...

HP: 9
Magic: 6
MC: 5

I cast Ice Sword and use the blade to uppercut slash the enemy! ...that sounded stupid.

Enemy HP: 0

At least you did it! Congratulations! You defeated your first monster!

The monster swirls up into a tiny twister and vanishes!

Correct.
Strength may usually go up by 1 after you win a fight. You might also be able to improve your strength by working out, but that's discussion for later.

Now that you have materials, You can begin building this town.
Because this world runs off imagination, building is much easier and you can skip some steps in it (that includes the time issue).

In order to build, you must be in an RP in the "Town Life" forum. Threads can be called anything you want, just REMEMBER TO PUT THE RP TYPE.

In Town RP's, this is where you will do most of your bonding with other inhabitants in this world. Together, you and others will build a new society and this town will be the center of it. Do so with pride, passion, and utmost care.

Now, on the subject of building, let's go over a few things.

Different types of crafts use a different skill. A list of what each skill does what is found on the SKILLS tab in the database. Recipes for each item are shown on the CRAFTING RECIPES list. If what you want to make isn't there, you may either suggest it to be added or (if you're already in an RP), make a recipe on spot. More info below.

Moving on, in order to craft something, you must do 3 things.
1. Check the database to make sure if the thing you want to make is there or not.
2. Look at the materials needed and the minimum level. You can craft something without the required level, but it will likely come out crap. If it's not on the list, make your own recipe, but be reasonable. Use other recipes as a reference. Also: CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MATERIALS FIRST!!!
3. When you choose to make something, say somewhere in your post that you're making it. BOLD IT so moderators know if you're making it. If you're making something custom, please say the ingredients used. If moderators find this amount is unreasonable, they will modify your recipe and make changes to the stock pile.

So I want to make a fire...I need 1 stone, wood, flint, coal, glass, or magic, correct?

I make a fire in the center of the "town"

and then I want to make a tent...
it uses 3 wood or 1 wood 2 fabric?

I build a tent about 10 feet from the fire on the north side
