Since some of you might just go tl;dr on the tutorial, I'll give info straight up on the Somnium Infinito.

About
The Somnium Infinito is a huge tower that extends into the sky. It is located to the north of the town area.
Inside maybe blank, but you can use your imagination (IMG) to create environments on each floor. This way, you can find materials you need.

There is a limitation however. You cannot get smart and decide to make a floor all trees or all metal, or all bananas for that matter. It has to be an actual enviroment AND there must be at least 1 key feature or LANDMARK.

Posting Threads

Each time you create a floor, you must create a thread in the "Somnium Infinito" Forum labled in this format:

Floor number - Name of floor - Floor type (Is it a jungle? A gallery? A lake? A robotics zone? A volcano?) - RP type (Usually LIN, PAR, or MIX) - DnD enabled? (if no, put NO, if not, leave it blank)

(The floor type, RP Type, and DnD can be entered in the description instead of the title)

For example,

1 - Rebirth's Waterfall - Forest Canyon (MIX) (Leaving the last one blank because DnD is enabled)

What are RP types you may ask?

a. (PAR) Sometimes known as literate RP or semi-lit; this is where you write paragraph like posts in a story fashion to roleplay.
(Example: Maritase decided it was official; he was going to explore the tower. He stepped through the door and made his way to the elevator. He then furiously pressed the 1st button and hit enter, then the elevator began to rise up.)

b. (LIN) This is for Script/Skit like RPs, commonly seen in chat RP's and are usually done in short posts.
(Example: Mari: I'd love to talk but I'm getting furiously beaten by a tree. *gets smacked in the face* OW!!! )

c. (MIX) This is for mixed RPs, which combine the two above. However some users may find this to be very confusing to use. An example of this would be this entire RP.

Now if you're wondering what DnD is, it's using dice and keeping track of stats for battles. This is the most accurate and fair way to play, so I recommend that this is on. If you do not, you will have to fight by your gut and it might not be fair or accurate. Also, rewards are less likely to be given.

Imagination Points

Oh, I forgot to mention, you can only create floors if you have enough Imagination points left (IMG). By default, this is 100. I'd say that this place seems like a size 1 zone, there doesn't appear to be much besides 1 landmark and a dense mass of trees.

Size 1 Zones cost you 20 IMG points; they usually only have 1 Landmark and very few features/resources, Size 2 Zones cost you 35. They can have up to 2 landmarks and hold more space for resources. Size 3 Zones will cost you a whopping 50 points but hold a lot of room for landmarks and more.

Keep in mind not every zone has to be pure natural. It's all up to you.

IMG points recover every 2 weeks in real life time.

Stats?! LOLWUT?

This is the database...

Clicking on that link will send you to a spreadsheet. Under the tab at the bottom that says "Skills", you can find a list of skills and your stats on them.

These skills dictate what you can do properly and what you can't do.
Repeatedly doing an action like making stuff with smithing or cooking will raise that skill level.
For example, if you want more stamina, keep collecting things.
Moderators will take note of everytime you do one (and probably tell you too) and update this sheet.

Here's a tip; if you want moderators to see you doing an action BOLD IT OR MAKE IT ANOTHER COLOR.

This database is useful for other things. For one, it contains a map of the entire tower (or at least what you have so far of it), it also tells you what you need to make what and what's needed to get what.

If you can't find a recipe, make your own; just MAKE SURE THE MODERATORS CAN SEE IT.

Keep it book marked, you will need to look at it often, especially in RPs with "DnD" enabled. For your convenience, on your profile page (also known as the player page), there is a "Status Page" that you can update to remind you of important stats like IMG and Stamina.

What are Materials?

You require materials for CRAFTING.

Materials are divided into 7 Categories. Stone, Water, Wood, Plants, Fabric, and Metal.

These all have "Basic" and "Advanced" categories.

Basic categories include all general pieces of any of the category.

For example, you picked up 15 stones, so it would add to your stone count by 15. It doesn't matter if they're red, blue, orange, or shiny; if its a stone and has no outstanding properties, its basic.

For things like plants and fabrics, you can add to your plants count by yanking out random pieces of grass or flowers. This will give you seeds. However, adding to fabric is only done by harvesting cotton plants (found usually in grassy areas) or taking pieces of scrap fabric you find around the tower.

Finding advanced materials is much more complex. You will sometimes have to mine to obtain some, or they have to appear randomly (via my command sometimes) in order for you to get them. Some materials can be harvested in specific environments. This info can be found in the database.[/u]

Monster Encounters

Monsters known as The Upset roam the tower. They are created from your fears, hatred, guilt, and negative emotions.

On each visit, monsters will likely attack a certain amount of times. (If you go a whole material gathering trip rolling the encounter dice, your trip will be void)

Depending on the size of a zone, then you will encounter more and more monsters.

After a gathering attempt, a dice MUST be rolled to determine if you will or will not fight a monster. If it's a 1 that is rolled, then you will encounter a monster. If it's not, you're safe. Depending on the size of your floor, then the dice will be different.

Small size 1 zones have a higher encounter rater because of the lack of space. Enemies will be at their lowest level though. The level for size 1 zones is called the "Stratum Level" This uses the Encounter S1 Die.

In medium size 2 zones, the encounter rate is slightly lower. Enemies will have a decent level, usually 5 levels higher than the stratum level. This uses the Encounter S2 Die.

In bigger size 3 zones, the encounter rate is the same as S2, but enemies will 10 levels stronger than the stratum level. This uses the Encounter S3 Die.

Original posters may choose what monster they're going to fight against or make up their own.

Starting a battle...

To original posters; Always tell people that a battle is starting by doing something like this:

BATTLE ENGAGED!

Then tell people what the monster is and its stats.

You can make the monster up on the spot, but make sure it's similar to monsters on the same stratum level. For example, you can't make a monster with 500 HP on a lvl 1 stratum. View The Database and click on "The Upset" tab to view a list of monsters and their attributes.
Upsets attack the NEXT person to make an attack. So if I choose to attack it and DON'T have the "Agility bonus" from the Instinctives skill, I will take damage first. If I DO have the skill, and my strength is HIGHER than the enemies HP, I can preform a FINISH, which will end the battle instantly without me taking damage.

If the previous person to gather enters a battle AND doesn't have the "Agility" bonus from the Instinctives skill, they will take damage first.

Attacking

You're also going to wonder how to fight it...

Before you attack, always show how much HP you have and your Strength. Your HP is equal to your stamina and doesn't recover automatically until the battle ends. Also, Show how much HP the monster after the last person attacked it. Requires basic math skills, obviously.

When you attack, post a description of how you're attacking or something like that (this is for RP purposes)
then make sure you roll the dice of your strength level; this dice is called the "Attack Modifier"
When the next person who attacks the monster posts, they have to add your strength and the number you rolled with the modifier, then subtract it from the monsters HP.

It seems a little complicated, I know, but it's really easy once you get into the hang of it.

IN ORDER TO ROLL DICE, YOU HAVE TO USE THE "POST REPLY" BUTTON, NOT QUICK REPLY.
The option is under the spot where you type in your post.

BY THE WAY!
The following is why the agility skill matters:

Since the enemy can attack you first, the reason this makes a difference is that the enemy has a chance to drop your HP to 0.

I CAN CASTH TH' SPELL! (Using Magic)

You have magic!
Allow me to explain how magic works.
If you choose to attack with magic, instead of showing your strength in your post when you attack, you will do this:

HP: (You know what this is)
Magic: (Put your magic skill level here, found on the database next to strength)
MC: This is your Magic Counter. It has a maximum amount of 10. Think of it like an overheating system. Every time you cast a spell that you learned (Check the database and click on Skill Dev. and SPELLS for a list of spells and their MC), this will increase by the amount noted in the Database. If you'd rather not check the database all the time, it's a good idea to keep a list of spells and their MC usage with you at all times. Make sure when you attack, you show what your TOTAL MC after using the spell will be.

If your MC hits 10 or passes it, you cannot use magic for 2 turns. Your MC will reset every 2 turns you DON'T use magic as well!!

The difference between using magic to attack and your paws/weapon, is that your damage is CONSTANT with magic. Depending on who you are, this may be good or bad, its up to you.

So anyways, to using the spells. Simply concentrate and imagine the spell happening for it to work. You may describe how you use your spell the same way you say how you attack.

Defeated...

If your HP hits 0, you will become unconscious. You will not die, however, as you are already dead. Instead, if you're the only one in the party fighting, or your entire party is Unconscious, You (and everyone else) will wake up in your "town" and you will lose 10 IMG points! Not a good thing.
